John Horn

John Horn is a shareholder and co-founder of Horn & Johnsen SC. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1991 and then served a two-year tenure on the judicial bench as a court commissioner for Marathon County, Wisconsin. While in this role, he learned and implemented wide-ranging areas of law, gaining a deeper understanding of everything from competency proceedings to 10-day emergency detentions; to search and seizure warrants, bail, arraignments, and preliminary hearings; to civil litigation, collections, small-claims and divorce; to probate and adult guardianship.

In 1993, John began private practice in Madison, Wisconsin. Since then, he has assisted thousands of families in Estate Planning, Business and Real Estate Law! John’s know-how, gained from his 30 years of experience, is critical to the estate planning process and often in short supply. His experience meeting, planning, and drafting with thousands of clients over three decades allows him to help his clients and their loved ones plan for the future, experience smooth transitions during difficult times, and avoid mistakes or unneeded complexities during the estate planning process. All of his experiences have given John valuable insight into how the law actually functions, especially in regards to estate planning and the elderly.

John teaches and writes both locally and nationally, having received numerous academic and professional accolades. In national peer rankings, he placed at the top 1.5 percent of estate planning attorneys and on all client internet rankings, he consistently brings in five-star ratings. He is a frequent speaker at estate planning workshops throughout Southern Wisconsin and has even written his own book, Wills, Trusts and Probate – An Insider’s Guide to Estate Planning in Wisconsin.

Everyone at Horn & Johnsen SC would like to congratulate John on his 30 years of practice and we look forward to many more! If you would like to learn more about the importance of estate planning and schedule a consultation, head to https://hornjohnsen.com/ today!
